Transfiguration: Christ for The New Millennium

This magnificent 3'X5' stained glass panel of Jesus reminds us of the healing power of transfiguration and hope in Christ for our own lives. Inspired by Raphael's famous painting of Transfiguration (1517-20), the artist seeks to glorify the Ascension of Christ as well in this truly unique spiritual portrait.

In Christ all things are possible. If we but make the attempt to transform and change ourselves for our higher good and the well being of our families, God will bless our efforts as we honor His Son, Jesus, who said, 'All that you ask of the Father in My Name, He will grant you.' Through this we are assured of that help. 'Transfiguration, Christ for the New Millennium,' created by a local Dallas stained glass artist, seemingly steps out of the beautiful golden frame as Jesus is pictured rising above the white billowy clouds during His Ascension to Heaven. A white opalescent glass flowing robe, set against a background of cobalt blue and clear Baroque cathedral stained glass, creates a dramatic effect amid the swirls of color. The artist purposefully planned this effect in the cutting of the background to set off a chain reaction of energy the viewer can literally 'feel' when seeing and experiencing this modern day masterpiece. The beveled glass star above Christ's head glistens against the continuity and fluidity of the power of that energy so carefully crafted by the artist. The choice of a soft golden cathedral glass for the halo to illuminate the head of Christ makes the presence of the anointing of the Holy Spirit the central focus of the work. The artist spent over 200 hours planning, cutting, grinding, and soldering this work to perfection. His knowledge of design, color, fabrication, and invisible support structural bracing all come together here to create a spiritual experience as one views the intensity he has achieved. Artist Sylvia Hester of Edwardsville, Illinois delicately hand painted and oven-fired the incredible details of the serenity of the face of Jesus as well as the nail-scarred hands and feet, creating such a realistic presence one feels one is there in the moment with the Holy Lamb of God. Hester took the original concept from a Franklin Mint sculpture inspiration to first draft sketch pattern layout. Her artistic expertise allows the viewer a breathtaking look into the face of Jesus. Her varied, multiple expressions of art have been acknowledged by recognition awards, accolades, and honors throughout her career. Individuals, corporate presentations and retail and commercial advertising art firms have sought her concepts for personal use. The art forms she uses here seemingly brings the glass to life and brings a full complement of Holy energy to this unique stained glass interpretation. Alex Shaw translated the design into a stained glass art pattern, adding a brilliant-cut, custom beveled star and an interior border of custom bevels, setting off the red border to symbolize the Blood of Christ, and the purple exterior border, traditionally a color of the robes of spiritual leaders. She worked with the artist to create dynamic color selections for the best "Transfiguration, Christ for the New Millennium." Stained glass is the only art form that must be illuminated by the sunlight to create the full impact of color and design as it shines through to reflect the glory of God's light, through the artist's conceptual work. The art glass must be seen to be fully appreciated as photographs cannot truly do the glass justice. This work of art is being offered for sale. A reservation for viewing the panel in Dallas, Texas is required. Call Alex Shaw at l.888.551.4869 for details.
